Heavy monsoon rains have battered Kannur district in Kerala, leaving one person dead, two injured and two others missing, while 521 people have been moved to eight relief camps.
The rains have affected 32 villages with flooding in 13, and damaged 60 houses including two completely destroyed.
Authorities have also recorded five landslips, and the Pazhassi barrage is discharging large volumes of water with 15 of its 16 spillway shutters open.
People living along riverbanks and low-lying areas have been urged to stay vigilant as heavy inflows continue into the reservoir.
