- Deficient rainfall has already reduced hydroelectric and wind generation, so the utilities have been told to focus on thermal power and maintain coal stocks for at least 15 days.
- The Minister said daily power demand of about 280 million units must be met without disruption, with imported coal to be bought when currency and market conditions are favourable.
- The directions came at a preparedness review meeting at the Secretariat attended by senior officials.
