The Ramangudde lake near Mangala village in Chamarajanagar district has filled to full capacity, with water overflowing through the weir on Wednesday.
About 980 acres of the lake's command area are now almost fully covered with water.

Manjunath had earlier initiated filling the lake with water from the Cauvery river during a period of drought, and water had already been stored in the lake during summer.
Recent good rains completed the filling, raising hopes among farmers who had faced years of water shortage.
The full lake is expected to improve irrigation, recharge wells in nearby villages, ease pressure on drinking water sources, and provide water for livestock in summer.
