Now, India and the G4, which includes Japan and Germany and Brazil, have attempted a somewhat different compromise. Their position is that new permanent members should in principle have the same responsibilities and privileges as the existing permanent members. But the G4 has indicated flexibility by proposing that a new permanent members would not exercise the veto until the question is reconsidered at a review after 15 years.
