Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy flagged off a KETO Motors commercial bus in Hyderabad and called for indigenous electric vehicle manufacturing and self-sufficiency in critical minerals.
He noted that China disrupted mineral supplies for up to eight months after Operation Sindoor, prompting the ₹34,000 crore National Critical Mineral Mission.
He said minerals like lithium, cobalt, nickel and copper are strategically important for sectors such as electric vehicles, solar panels, semiconductors and defence.
TGSRTC officials added that 800 new buses will join the fleet this December under the PM eDrive scheme, with 1,400 more the following year.
