Former judge Manmohan Singh Liberhan, who headed the commission of inquiry into the Babri Masjid demolition, has died at the age of 87.
The news was announced by Rohit Sud, president of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association.
Liberhan began his legal career at the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 1964, was appointed a judge there in February 1987, and later served as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court and the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
He was named head of the Babri Masjid demolition inquiry commission on December 16, 1992.
