Two education groups, the Public Education Protection Committee and AIDSO's Mysuru district unit, have criticised the State government for delays in providing basic facilities to students in government and aided schools.
They said schools have been running for nearly two months without distribution of shoes and socks, and notebooks promised for the current academic year have not reached schools.
The groups also claimed funds for eggs and bananas under the school nutrition programme are below market prices, with teachers covering the difference themselves.
They urged the government to immediately appoint a State Education Minister, a post currently vacant, and deliver the pending facilities.
