Delhi government's latest state indicator framework status report shows internet subscriptions in the capital rose about 217% over a decade, from 1.8 crore in 2015 to 5.7 crore in 2025.
The figures count subscriptions, not unique users, and now stand roughly 2.5 times Delhi's population of about 2.3 crore.
The report links the growth to affordable smartphones, cheap data, 4G and 5G rollout, and the mainstreaming of digital payments, online education and remote work after demonetisation and Covid-19.
Delhi accounts for nearly 6% of India's internet subscriptions with under 2% of its population, though its decade growth of 217% was slightly below the national 220%.
