- Veterinary surgeons from Kerala's Animal Husbandry department completed a two-day training on responsible antibiotic use at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Pookode, Wayanad.
- The programme was organised by COHEART at KVASU under an Asian Development Bank-supported regional project implemented by Sathguru Management Consultants with Zenex Animal Health.
- The training covered evidence-based antimicrobial use, disease prevention, vaccination, farm biosecurity, animal welfare and gender-responsive veterinary services.
- The initiative spans Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and four Indian States, and has so far trained over 500 veterinarians and 2,000 livestock farmers across more than 60 programmes.
- The effort matters because it strengthens the role of veterinarians in tackling antimicrobial resistance and zoonotic diseases through the One Health approach linking human, animal and environmental health.
