Nine Class VIII students of a government school in Thoothukudi district have been arrested under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually harassing a classmate, with five arrested on Tuesday and four on Wednesday.
The police said the harassment had been going on since the students were in Class VII, and the accused had allegedly threatened the victim to keep him from telling adults.
The case came to light after a teacher learned of a recent incident on school premises and informed the victim's parents, who then filed a complaint at the Vilathikulam All Women Police Station.
All nine students have been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and lodged at an observation home in Tirunelveli.
