Marathi film Gondhal selected as India's official entry for 2027 Oscars

Through the Reader lens: The Film Federation of India has chosen the Marathi film Gondhal, directed by Santosh Davakhar, as India's official submission for the 2027 Academy Awards. The film, which depicts a rural Maharashtrian story, was selected from a competitive list of 33 submissions across various Indian languages. Despite the commercial success of other high-grossing films like Dhurandhar 2 and Hanuman Ansh, the committee opted for Gondhal to represent the country.
