Poorly made screen protectors also pose safety risks, such as sharp glass fragments from chips and cracks.
To address these issues, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has brought screen protectors under the Bureau of Indian Standards registration framework.
This regulation becomes effective on April 1, 2027, and prohibits the sale of non-compliant products.
