Andhra Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister and Nidadavolu MLA Kandula Durgesh performed bhumi puja for a ₹94.31 crore water grid project in Nidadavolu municipality, East Godavari district, under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
The project will draw Godavari water from the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Vijjeswaram and includes laying a water grid, a 10 MLD water purification plant, and a 90-kilometre pipeline.
It aims to supply drinking water to every household in the municipality by January 2028.
Durgesh said the town still lacked safe drinking water despite YSR Congress claims of spending ₹73 crore on such projects from 2019 to 2024.
