Around 1,800 students of Sarvodaya Inter College in Kishanpur, Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, protested at the school gate over the absence of basic facilities such as electricity, fans, clean drinking water, clean toilets, mid-day meals and benches for classes 6 to 8.
The students said they were forced to demonstrate because the school administration had ignored repeated complaints.
District School Inspector (DIOS) Rakesh Kumar visited the campus after learning of the protest and inspected it.
He has ordered fans in every room, repaired wiring, an RO water plant, a cleaned playground, proper mid-day meal quantity and menu, and benches for all classrooms within a month.
