A 40-year-old private tuition teacher in Virar East has been booked for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old Class VIII student with a plastic pipe after the boy scored low marks in a mathematics practice test.
The student suffered injuries to his head, left shoulder and left leg.
The boy's mother filed a complaint after receiving his medical report, and the Virar police registered an FIR under Section 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
As the child did not sustain grievous injuries, the teacher has been served a notice and further investigation is underway.
