Kerala's State GST department began raids on 79 locations in the gold trade sector, including 35 jewellery showrooms, trader branches and residences.
The inspections, run jointly by the department's intelligence and enforcement wings from 3 p.m. on Thursday, aim to detect tax evasion, illegal transactions, unaccounted stock and other GST irregularities.
The action follows a mid-July operation on 38 bar hotels that found turnover suppression worth ₹70.73 crore.
