Thieves broke into three locked houses in Hanagal's Kotigeri Oni and stole cash and jewellery worth over nine lakh rupees.
The stolen goods included over nine lakh rupees in cash plus gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs.
The owners — Premanand Venkatesh Shet, Anand Nagaraj Shet and Manjunath Shet — were away in Kekkar village of Kumta taluk for Ganesh Chaturthi when the thefts took place.
Police officers, along with fingerprint and dog squads, visited the spot and conducted an investigation.
A case has been registered at the Hanagal police station, and the theft came soon after a similar burglary of two houses in Ishwar Nagar.
