India Post implements revised Speed Post rates from August 1

India Post has issued new Speed Post rates and, for the first time, official definitions of 'documents' and 'parcels', effective August 1.
Documents — including letters, printed matter, BFSI items like chequebooks, cards, PAN and Aadhaar cards, and non-commercial items up to 500 grams — will carry lower fees, while everything else will be treated as parcels.
Retail customers' existing rates are unchanged, with 24-hour Speed Post fees ranging from ₹38 to ₹186 per packet depending on weight and distance, and 48-hour Speed Post from ₹61 to ₹121.
Wholesale customers will pay ₹38 to ₹100 for 24-hour service and ₹48 to ₹72 for 48-hour service, with these services currently available only in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
