The Bihar government has announced it will withdraw all criminal cases against students who protested over the alleged NEET paper leak and release everyone arrested before 6 pm on July 26, 2026, according to a Home Department notification.
The government also assured that no punitive or retaliatory legal action would be taken against protesters in the future.
The announcement came hours after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav threatened a statewide agitation from July 29 if the FIRs were not withdrawn.
Separately, a constable who fired four rounds from an AK-47 during the July 25 protests in Siwan has been suspended, with police saying no protesters were injured.
