The Almatti Dam in Karnataka has raised its water outflow to 150,000 cusecs, the first time this year, due to heavy rainfall in Maharashtra and increased releases from dams there.
The outflow was increased from 130,000 cusecs on Sunday to 150,000 cusecs at 10 am on Monday.
The dam received 125,855 cusecs (10.87 TMC ft) of inflow in one day, and inflow had risen to 136,973 cusecs by Monday evening, while the reservoir level stood at 518.92 metres with 111.644 TMC ft of water stored.
Heavy releases from Maharashtra dams such as Koyna are feeding the Krishna river, with the report noting inflows to Almatti are expected to remain around one lakh cusecs for the next four to five days.
