- A KSRTC bus travelling from Nelliyampathy to Nenmara skidded at a curve on the rain-soaked Nelliyampathy ghat road near Pothundy Dam in Palakkad district on Monday morning and fell into a teak plantation below.
- One woman, identified as Jayanti, 55, of Pulayanpara, died, and several of the roughly 80 passengers on board were injured, some seriously.
- Fire and Rescue Services personnel, police and local residents carried out the rescue, and the injured were shifted to hospitals at Nenmara and Palakkad.
