A 49-year-old MESCOM lineman, Sheikh Zameer of Ambikarodu Pilau, died from an electric shock while repairing a faulty transformer at Uchila Naya Pattana in Ullal taluk on Monday morning.
He and a colleague, Sangappa, had gone for the repair after a complaint to MESCOM.
Believing the Group Operated Switch (GOS) was off, Zameer climbed the transformer, received a shock, and fell.
He was declared dead while being taken to a hospital in Deralakatte, and he is survived by his wife and daughter.
