Residents of Chikkahunsur village submitted a memorandum to Tahsildar Manjunath demanding basic infrastructure and protection of government land from encroachment.
The villagers told the Tahsildar's office that about 200 families in Chikkahunsur face shortages of clean drinking water and suffer from wastewater flowing into homes because drains are not proper.
The residents also sought asphalting and renewal of a one-kilometre road from the Chikkahunsur lake bund to the village, and a UGD to stop wastewater entering the lake.
The memorandum asked that 11 acres of government land shown in the village map, where many illegal layouts have come up, be preserved for government offices or other schemes.
Tahsildar Manjunath assured the residents that a survey of the village land would be conducted and the matter of clearing encroachments would be taken up with panchayat officials, which could decide how quickly the village gets its basic amenities.
