BKC police in Mumbai have registered an FIR against two government officials for allegedly neglecting their duties related to the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Manoj Kulkarni of MSEDCL, appointed as an assistant electoral registration officer, and Atul Waghmare of BMC's sewage department, appointed as a booth-level officer, were relieved of their regular work for SIR duties but reportedly did not report.
A deputy tehsildar (elections) complained that notices about the violation were sent to their department heads on June 17 and 18.
Police have begun a probe and will summon the two officials for questioning before taking further action.
