Students in schools across Ranipet district, including government, aided and private institutions, will spend at least 15-20 minutes every Monday during school hours watering plants, removing dry leaves and maintaining saplings on their campuses, starting July 27.
The initiative, conceived by Collector N. Priya, aims to inculcate environmental conservation habits and awareness about the importance of trees among students of all classes from I to XII.
Teachers will also share interesting facts about tree species, and students showing the best involvement will be honoured with 'Green Badges', for which an order has been placed to procure around 30,000 badges.
