- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will virtually inaugurate the 'Mee Bhoomi–Blockchain' pilot project on July 23, aimed at making land records more secure, transparent and tamper-proof.
- The pilot will run in seven mandals across seven districts, including Kurnool, Chittoor and Vizianagaram, covering 89 re-survey villages and over 1.37 lakh land parcel maps.
- Developed by NIC Andhra Pradesh and the Centre of Excellence in Blockchain Technology at NIC Bengaluru using Hyperledger Fabric, the system will give every land parcel a unique blockchain identity and permanently record all transactions in a tamper-proof ledger.
- It seeks to fix problems in the existing Webland system, where separate databases maintained by the Revenue, Survey and Registration departments have caused data mismatches and unauthorised changes, and could pave the way for a State-wide rollout.
